Why is an inefficient reproductive strategy?

Because humans have developed a system of right and wrong (called ethics), other humans will inhibit his ability to p on his genes (i.e., people) due to its unethical nature. Such inhibition will be in the form of jail time or even a shotgun blast to the head. Where will his genes go then?
