Wireless router question?

My main computer (laptop) is connected to both a modem and a wireless linksys router, which can only work unless I connect it through the modem. However, even though my laptop is still directly connected to the modem, it's still pulling a signal from the wireless linksys router as well. Consequently, this seems to be affecting the strength of the signal in all other computers throughout the apartment. How do I turn the laptop's wireless function off, so that the laptop's connection is only fed from the modem? I really don't need both...
