Should I replace the neck on my fender mex strat, or just buy a new guitar?

The guitar definitely needs fretwork, but it also hasnt had strings on it for two years, so the maple wood neck is probably warped. I have never done any serious guitar tech work, but I think I could handle it. Necks are pretty expensive though, is there anyway I could just refret the neck I have and adjust it back into alignment? Any thoughts, recommendations, or links are greatly appreciated.
