Feeling nauseous whenever I remove my dentures?

I guess I would have to, first, admit, that I may put on too much denture adhesive on my dentures, but, I notice that when I take my dentures out, I have a violent, gagging, nauseous feeling. Nothing comes up, but, it is quite 'violent' and unnerving. Could I be allergic to the denture adhesive?
